About Mark Curtis

When Mark Curtis was seven years old he decided that he would become an architect.  At age twelve he received $200 for his first commission for a house.  Since then he has been involved in almost every building and occupancy type, from a PTA shack for sales at a local high school to $1.2 Billion in prison construction and the largest program of its kind for re-use of prototype buildings. At age seven becoming an architect was the best way to be of service to help others, but now he has discovered a way to provide shelter to those in greatest need.

Mark was also involved in the largest portable classroom condemnation program in California at the time, which resulted in the school district replacing 124 condemned portables and being approved for 6 new schools. The 124 portables were condemned in 90 days and the school district awarded the replacements and new schools to the architect’s office that he worked for.  It was from this effort that Mark learned what was required for a good portable building, and what was not.

The emergency portable concept began to form to what you see today as ShelterPlus Transport. The building concept has evolved into a multi-faceted use limited only by your imagination.
